Pattern Recognition for Cognitive Performance Modeling

چکیده
Cognitive performance modeling captures patterns of observable behavior that reflect the operation of underlying cognitive activities. These behavioral patterns can be linked to training requirements in order to derive automated measures of cognitive performance. We are currently developing the Team Coaching Assistant for SimulationBased Training (T-CAST), a cognitive performance modeling system designed to support assessment of team performance in simulated environments. T-CAST maps competency-based performance requirements to data signatures of actions executed within a massively multiplayer online role-playing game. Through standard rule-based inferencing methods and spatial reasoning techniques, T-CAST produces lists of significant gameplaying events from which aggregate measures of individual and team performance may be computed. These events are then fed back to the game for use in indexing simulation replay and supporting instructor-led after action review (AAR). In this paper we describe the design and development of T-CAST and suggest extensions of cognitive performance modeling to other domains and

Face Recognition by Cognitive Discriminant Features
Face recognition is still an active pattern analysis topic. Faces have already been treated as objects or textures, but human face recognition system takes a different approach in face recognition. People refer to faces by their most discriminant features. People usually describe faces in sentences like ``She's snub-nosed'' or ``he's got long nose'' or ``he's got round eyes'' and so like. These...
متن کاملEye Movement Pattern in Face Recognition is Associated with Cognitive Decline in the Elderly
The present study investigated the relationship between eye movement pattern in face recognition and cognitive performance during natural aging through modeling and comparing eye movement of young (18-24 years) and older (65-81 years) adults using Hidden Markov Model (HMM) based approach. Young adults recognized faces better than older adults, particularly when measured by the false alarm rate....
متن کاملImplicit Modeling of Object Topology by Guidance with Temporal View Attention
Object recognition developed to the most common approach for detecting arbitrary objects based on their appearance. Statistical pattern analysis methods, are able to extract features from appearing images, enabling a classiflcation of the image content; have reached certain maturity; and achieve excellent recognition on rather complex problems. However, these systems seem not directly scalable ...
متن کاملProposal of Pattern Recognition as a necessary and sufficient Principle to Cognitive Science
Despite the prevalence of the Computational Theory of Mind and the Connectionist Model, the establishing of the key principles of the Cognitive Science are still controversy and inconclusive. This paper proposes the concept of PATTERN RECOGNITION as NECESSARY AND SUFFICIENT PRINCIPLE for a general cognitive science modeling, in a very ambitious scientific proposal. A formal physical definition ...
متن کاملPerformance and Musical Perception Analysis
The main objective of this multidisciplinary study is to develop a cognitive model of the mechanisms of musical perception and comprehension. This model aims specifically at exploring the close interaction between the processes of segmentation and pattern recognition in musical listening from different angles including perception, musical analysis, and computer modeling. This question touches u...
